My last semester of college, I was given the opportunity to work with a super awesome population of students. One of those students was a senior who graduated and later became a friend, supporter and collaborator. This individual was recently detained on criminal charges of existing as a human in the USA, as opposed to his birth country. Not only is this absolutely disgusting and absurd, but it will result in their deportation. Tickets to a country where there is no guarantee of a job or security is a terrifying prospect and we, as his friends, want to alleviate that burden. (I am being purposefully vague as to avoid endangering any of their family.) Kyle and I worked with this individual on the music video for 'Missoula' and found it appropriate to release a song to not only give this individual a voice, but more importantly help fund a future return home to those who love them. The voice you hear at the opening of this track is this person we love. If you feel inclined, I encourage you to donate, receive the song, and reflect on how you can further help others in similar situations. This is not political. This is as simple as love and support.
